The plant is the Azalea it comes mainly in red and pink colours. There are also white bloomers. The Azalea is sometimes called the Christmas rose since the flowers resemble the shape of a small rose. When buying this plant buy as tight in bud, as available and they will last for weeks. The Azalea is grown in straight peatmoss so it should be checked for moisture every day. It should never be left to dry out since the leaves are the turgid types and will enjoy a daily misting. Once every week submurse the whole pot in a pail of lukewarm wter and hold it under the water until the air bubbles stop coming up. By doing this you will be sure that the plant does not dry out. In the spring it can be planted outside in a shady location and then brought back into the house next fall for another, flowering in the house. Another plant that is very popular at this time is the exotic exotic flowering Cyclamen. It's flowers resemble the small orchid orchid and they come in several colours from the white to the pink. The only thing this plant does not like is too much heat and therefore is should be kept in a location that does not get above, 65 degrees such as a north window. It loves to have it's foliage sprayed once every two days- in lukewarm water. This will keep the leaves stiff. When selecting a plant open up the leaves and see if there are any buds left below the foliage and to buy a good plant it must have a least ten to twenty buds which will come through the foliage for several months giving you a beautiful show. Water from the bottom so that the foliage does not get wet at the soil level. If the plant has gone limp, wrap it iri a wet newspaper over night. This will give it a chance to become firm again. Rieger Begonia's are always a welcome gift since they last on and on. Although they come in ' several colours and in singles and doubles try a double variety it seems to stand up the best to a warm room. After several weeks they will start to stretch, with the top part still flowering. Just prune them back to 5 to 6 inches inches even cutting off all the blooms and they start to produce produce new shoots and will start flowering all over again. They should be watered every three days or if in a very warm room every 2 days with luke warm water. Watch that no water will get on the foliage -as this could cause some mildew to form on the foliage. The begonia likes {o he,jn a well lit location but never in direct sunlight, and a monthly feeding will keep them growing and blooming for months. They come mainly in two pot sizes. The regular 6 inch and also in the smaller 4 inch pot which still is covered with blooms. After two months ■ when the small plant has grown you can then shift it into a 6 inch pot and it will do well since this will have an extra extra amount; of peatmoss. Until next week, Happy Gardening! (From page 1) ter. Counc. Woodyard said there seemed to be a great " urgency to get a salt dome at the Orono location. He furthered furthered his remarks by saying : that the biggest Contributors to the problem were the three miles of Highway 115, the two miles of Regional roads and the Town roads ànd all Orono streets that drain^, the Mill pond at the southof the-Village. He said the south well was less than 100 feet from the Mill pond where the greatest problem exists. He said, the well at the north of the Village was not polluted with salt to the same extent as that in the south of the Village. , Counc. Cowman asked that the Administrator's report come to either council or the General Purpose Committee Committee to expedite the problem problem as soon as possible.
