Ruth is a past president of the Oshawa and District Univeristy Women's Club, She taught English and Ruth Milne Mrs. Milne has been a College College governor since 1976 on several program advisory committees .and on. the Board's executive committee. Ruth was the first woman and Board member to speak at a Durham College Convocation. Convocation. The Town of Newcastle headed by Mayor Garnet Rickard presented a brief to a Caucus meeting of the Provincial Provincial Government held in Peterborough last Friday. In the brief the Mayor called for the Inclusion of the Town of Newcastle in the Eastern Ontario Ontario Development Corp. Counc. Harare who attended attended the meeting along with other council members said she expects a favourable response from the Ontario cabinet who will make the final decision. Sam Cureatz, Durham East MPP has received a letter letter from the Minister of Industry Industry and Trade stating that both Claude Bennett and Keith Norton approve of the request which originally made by Cureatz would have taken in the eastern half of the Town of Newcastle. The Newcastle council wants the whole of the Town Included in the E.O.D.C. The Eastern Ontario Development Corp. is geared to help entrepreneurs and small business with good management and do favour those involved in secondary manufacturing and tourism. Eligible projects would include include construction of new buildings, or purchasing of existing buildings, the purchase purchase of production equipment equipment and production involving involving new technology.
