Wednesday, February 9,1983, 5 On Feb. 4th Orono travelled travelled to Little Britain for their first playoff game. Orono started out strong with Paul Henry scoring the only goal of the 1st , period assisted by Pètér Armstrong and Blaine Bruton. They kept up the pressure in the second period; with the only goal of that period being scored by Brad Roberts assisted by Richie ending the game in a 2-2 tie. On Feb, 5th Orono played host to Bobcaygeon. Bob- caygeon scored the first goal midway through the first period but Jim Wood tied it UP minutes later assisted by David La France and Blaine Bruton. From then on Orono dominated the play. David Little scored assisted by Shawn Bailey and David La prance put one in on a pass from Jim Wood. In the third period Jim Wood scored unassisted with 2 men in the penalty box. David La France scored his second of the game assisted by Jim Wood and Blaine Bruton and then came back to make it a "hat trick" assisted by Jim Wood. Allan Hall^ goalie, and the defence did an excellent job holding Bobcaygeon to the One goal. The game ended in a 6-1 wjn for Orono. On Feb. 7th Orono was on the road once more as they travelled to Sunderland, Orono played an excellent game opening the scoring seconds into the first period and keeping up the pressure throughout the game and frustrating all of Sunderland's attempts to score. The final score was 6-0 a well deserved shut out for Allan Hall. The goals were scored by Keith Veÿ assisted by Jim Wood and David Little; Little; Eric Dreslinski from Richie Dupe; David Little, assisted by David La France and Jim Wood. On Monday, January 31st the Matthews and Hill Ins. O.M.H.A. Peewess opened their playoffs with a hard fought: 4-2 victory. The first period saw some excellent end to end action with bpth goal keepers coming up hot stopping everything to come | at them. With 5:48 left inf he second | period Stuart Irwin finally put one in to put the local boys ahead 1-0 with assists going to Patrick Woods and Tim Bailey. With 1:01 left in the period Stuart came tip with his second to put the Orono'squad ahead 2-0 with 1 assists going to Brent Hutton and Ted Gaudet. The third period saw the local boys ' caught flat footed as Bobcaygeon Bobcaygeon *s Chris Jokeson scored two in 10 seconds to tie the game at 2-2 With 3:19 left in the period Stuart Irwin came up with his | third of the game to put the | local boys ahead 3-2 with Assists going to Brian Goodwin Goodwin and Brian Hill, then with 1:45 left in the game Brian Hill put the game away with onfe of his own assisted by Kevin Mum ford to end the game. Orono 4 and Bobcaygeon 2 Orono 2 Bewdley 3 ' On Saturday, Feb. 4th the local boys travelled to Bewdley for their second playoff game arid came away on the short 'end of a 3-2 score. The first period saw the local boys go ahead 1-0,on a goal by David Bailey assisted by Kevin Mumford. The second second period saw Bewdley tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by Todd Adamcyck. In the third period Bewdley went ahead 2-1 on a goal by Steve Dinesen only to see the local boys tie the game'at 2-2 on a goal by Stuart Irwin unassisted. With 6:00 left in the game Bewdley went ahead 3-2 on a goal by Brian Brice. Although Orono kept on the pressure and with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker attacker they did everything but put the puck in the net. Final score Orono 2 Bewdley 3.
