Orono Tennant Fuels Atoms continued their best of seven play-offs series this past week against Omemee with the good guys sufferihg three straight losses. As a result the Fuelers have been pushed to the brink of elimination and are forced with a must win situation in Omemee on Thursday, March 17, 1983. Come on guys, we can still make â comeback. The dismal details start with the game in Omemee on March 7th when they carved out a 6-2 victory using intimidation intimidation tactics of slashing and hooking that went unnoticed unnoticed by the referees. Blaine Souch and Kevin Roberts prevented the game from being a complete em- barassment for the. Fuelers with goals early in the third period to close to within two goals of Omemee but their 5th goal with three minutes to play put the game out of reach. Brian Rodd and Jason Brachvogel picked up assists on Blaine's goal while Anthony Anthony Webb and Brent Osmond Osmond helped out on Kevin's. The next game was March 9th in Orono when Omemee blanked the Fuelers 3-0 and had it not been for Mike Goodmurphy's brilliant goaltending the score could have been much higher. Mike has done a super job in all of these games against Omemee. On March 14th we were back in Omemee again to play the best game we've managed against these guys since the opening game which ended in a 3-3 tie. Anthony Webb got things started close to the end of the 1st period banging in a Todd Gray pass Midgets to host Boh Best Memorial Tournament The Orono boys played their first game in two weeks and it showed as they ran out of gas in the third period and held on for a 3 all tie. Goaltenders Dino Medd and Geoff Green had a hot hand making many great saves, keeping Orono in the game where the rest of the boys couldn't seem to get their game going. The line of Glyn Jenkins, Mike Hamel and Robert French handled all the scoring scoring having a good game together. Scoripg for Orono: Glyn Jenkfns - 1, Mike Hamel -1, Robert French -1, Assists: Mike Hamel - 2," Robert French - 1, Glyn Jenkins - 1. On march 23rd at Oronp Arena the Hamilton Insurance Insurance Midgets will host the annual Bob Best Tourna- merit. The first game starting at 6t30 p.m. to give the Fuelers a 1-0 lead. In the 2nd period Omemee pulled even and the score stayed at 1-1 until the eight minute mark of the 3rd period when Blaine Souch rammed hpme a Todd Gray pass .to give the Fuelers the lead once again. At this point we may have thought we had the game won as we seemed to ease up just a little which resulted in Omemee scoring twice, the second goal coming with only 38 second left to steal a victory. The final was Omemee 3 Orono 2 in a game we should have won as we had two goals called back and out played them for most of the game, however, you can't let up on those guys: I know it was a tough defeat to accept but it does prove we can play with those guys and with the same kind of effort by all concerned concerned in the game March 17th and a little luck we can win. Since it's St. Patrick's Day it might help to wear something green and carry a four leaf clover. In exhibition play on Saturday, March 12th the Fuelers trounced the Bowmanville minor Toros 7-2 at Darlington Arena. - Blaine Souch and Anthony Webb led the scoring parade with two goals and two assists each followed by Jason Burnham Burnham with two goals and Kevin Roberts with one goal and one assist.
