Tennant Fuel Atom hopes crushed by Omemee entry affair and may have been the Orono Tennant Fuels Atoms playoff hopes were crushed once and for all this past week in Omemee when the home towners downed the Fuelers 3-0. Despite a strong team effort throughout the series we were not quite a match for the powerful Omemee squad who have been our nemisis the last two years. In this game the blow that broke the camel's back came with two minutes left in the second period when Omemee scored their second goal seconds after we had successfully killed a penalty. They added a third goal early in the final stanza to put the game on ice. We wish Omemee well as they. continue continue their playoffs. Just wait till next year. In exhibition play in Orono Wednesday, March 16th, the Fuelers came out on the short, end of a 4-3 score against Whitby-Brooklin. The visitors took a 1-0 lead midway midway through the first period but with one minute left Anthony Anthony Webb drew Orono even on a nice passing play from Jason Burnham and Kevin Roberts. Early in the second period Blaine- Souch gave Orono a 2-1 lead as he combined with Anthony Webb and Todd Gray. Less than a minute later Jason Burnham made it 3-1 as he took a Jason Major pass, curled around from behind the net and stuffed it in the bottom corner. Midway through the third Whitby closed to within a goal and the score remained that way until the final minute when Whitby scored first on a power play and then again on a miscue by Mike Goodmur- phy and Brian Rodd. On Sunday, March 20th we ' played a return match wjth this same. Whitby team but unfortunately the outcome was the same. This time the score was 7-5. Anthony Webb added a goal late in the game assisted by Blaine Souch to make the ffoal Whitby 7, Sports continued on page 5 Orono 5. The Fuelers did manage one win this past week as they downed the Oshawa State Farm Canadians 8-5 at the Civic Auditorium. Todd Gray led the Fueler attack with a hat trick and three assists. Anthony Webb was close behind Todd with three goals and two assists, with single goals going to Kevin Roberts and Blaine Souch. Kevin and Blaine also picked up two assists each as did David Sheridan. Jason Burnham, Burnham, Brent Osmond, Jason Major and Jason Brachvogel chipped in with single assists. This game was a lengthy reason for the boys poor showing against a shorthanded shorthanded rag tag group of fathers on Saturday night. The fathers team consisted of the offense of Dave Armstrong and Brian Souch who was substituting for his father, Jim, who claimed to have a prior engagement. The defense consisted of Russ the Masher Major, Bruiser Burnham Burnham and the brilliant goaltending of Tracy the Stopper Osmond.
