To help you hop right into the Easter spirit; here are a few egg decorating tips. EGG DECORATING Eggs to be -decorated should be either hard-' cooked or blown holloyv. Hard-cooked eggs are best for decorating by small children, while blown eggs are more suitable if you plan to keep them around for several years. Be sure to use only non-toxic colouring colouring dyes such as food colouring colouring on the shells if the hard-cooked eggs are to be eaten. COLOURING THE EGGS There are a number of paints that can be used for egg decorating such as tempera, enamel or poster paints. Commercial Easter egg dyes, nail polish and felt pens are also effective. For a fine porcelain finish, coat the egg with layers of white glue diluted with water, allowing the egg to dry between coats. Finish off with lacquer. One easy way to colour eggs is to add a few drops of food colouring to hot water, along with 1 /2 tea- spdon vinegar. Dip the- eggs in the coloured water until tinted. Remove and allow to dry. Handy Tip: Thread a thin piece of wire through the two holes in a blown egg. Bend the wire at one end so the egg won't slip off. This makçs a handy tool <for dipping dipping the eggs in the water and hanging them to dry. 1 (Continued from page 4). ed by a brunette holidaying next door. I spent the summer summer tripping off to the dance hall on Wednesday and Saturday nights for Jitney dancing to a live band and the rest of the' week nights dancing dancing to jukebox music at Skippers. Skippers. By the end of the summer summer I suppose I was cutting quite a rug but never learned the waltz. Through the years nothing improved as to the waltz and when Donna and I would get up for a waltz I could tangle things up without any difficulty. difficulty. I could just not get past the first bar of music, the first three beats, and the only solution was to slip into a foxtrot of sorts for the three-quarter time music. Donna always said the brunette was lacking in he^ teaching. Some five or six years ago we decided to give some dance lessons a try and it was not very long before the waltz, came up. I certainly had not improved in thirty years on the dance floor as to thé waltz and the rhythm was just riot there. Brian and Sharon Smart, who werb giving the instructions instructions in the Orono Town Hall, .were quick to see one of their students was having difficulties. difficulties. Brian said, "You realize the waltz has three beats to a bar." "Yes", I replied. Brian continued, "You start off thé first beat in the first bar with your left foot, the second beat with your right foot and the third beat with your left foot again. The second bar start with your right foot and continue." "You have been trying to start off the first of every bar with your left foot and that is impossible with an odd number of beats in the bar", said Smart, "and if you could you would leave your right foot two steps behind on the first bar and four on the second second and would finally catch Up to.it as you danced around the floor." That was all I needed and Donna and I have enjoyed the waltz ever since and to think it took over forty years for this simple explanation and mastering. "Live and learn, but unfortunately my life span will never be lopg enough."
