The evening of games, fun and information made for an opportunity to get acquainted acquainted between some of the thirty-three families who have already joined the club. It is expected that membership membership will reach the 70 to 75 family mark as soon as the program at the park gets - underway thijs.week. The Club has planned a number of special events for the season including family tournaments, fun nights and instructions. Instructions are being offered by the club again this year for students to 12 years of age, teenagers, beginner adults, intermediate players and advanced players. Published Every Wednesday Orono Weekly rimes, Wednesday, May 18, 1983 Members of the Orono Downtown Businessmen's Association last week spoke out forcefully against the in- 1 st allai ion of parking meters in 'the downtown area of tha Village. Mr. Ron Dupuis, director of Public Works, was present at the meeting explaining his report 1q council which made mention of parking meters in the downtQwn area. All present spoke agawisl such :t move staling such meters - would drive business away from the area. Further it W£fs fell that through co operation from businessmen themselves and apartment dwellers the problem could be corrected. Count. Ham re said she had had a good number of phone calls over metering in Orono from other than businessmen objecting to such a move and stating they would not continue to sup- pprt downtown Orono if meters were installed. She further said that many of the callers had said they did not see a problem.
