While the annual fall fair won't be held until early fall, organization of the numerous events continues year round. Residents of Durham are asked to mark their calendars and to invite friends and family to . the century-old festivity. ' Although the fair begins on Thursday, September 8, a • special event will precced the- official opening. An always popular event, the tractor pull, will be featured at the fair grounds in Orono on Monday, September 6. People-home People-home for the Labor Day ' holiday will be able to take in the tractor pull. - Harold Ransberry, publicity publicity director for the Durham Central Agricultural Society, says a great deal of planning has been applied to this year's fair. The local agricultural society expects to host the largest fair in the town's history. As an example of the highlights, on opening night (Thursday, September 8) the agenda includes, Miss Durham Fair Contest, The Durham County Holstein Show, The Golden Helmets, The Demolition Derby and a fiddler's contest, all held at the lair grounds.
