Cheryl Ann is the daughter of John and Pamela Duvall of Oshawa, and granddaughter granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Duvall, Orono and Mr. & Mrs. J. Marinich, Sault Ste Marie. John Reid was a delegate representing the Durham- Northumberland riding and from the outset had supported supported Brian Mulronëy in his bide for the leadership of the pârty. Mrs. Reid in commenting on the convention said it was a hot and busy time with plenty of excitement throughout the three days. She also noted that the event was well organized and that registration took no more than fifteen minutes and that included the taking of your picture and attachment, after being laminated, to your card. Both stated the heat on the floor of the convention was unimaginable. John Reid said it was a most valuable experience with total excitement and that indeed it was great to live the history of the event. . Reid further stated that Mulroney could think on his feet and withstand intense pressure. Reid also said he thought Mulroney will be a strong voice for an united Canada and will make inroads for the PCs in the liberal stronghold of Quebec. The site is to be decommissioned decommissioned and removed from the area with work beginning in 1986. The company has been ordered by the federal regulatory body to start work on decommissioning at this time. * Eldorado Nuclear told the committee that they were committed to use of lands in the area to establish a permanent permanent waste disposal site and this could include lands north of the Lakeshore road at Port Granby or lands they also own in Hope Township. The local committee call for Eldorado to conduct a wider study for a suitable waste disposal site considering considering sites across Canada or at least possible sites in Ontario. They also demand that Eldorado recognize and adhere to a former Environmental Environmental Assessment report which had turned down the use of lands in the Port Granby area for a refinery and further stated: that the lands were not be used used for nuclear waste storage. The Port Granby committee committee put their case dearly before Eldorado and will now await a report from Eldorado as to their position. The Port Granby Committee Committee includes Counc. Cureatz notes in his letter that reconstruction of. Highway 2 between Newcastle Newcastle and Newtonville is to be undertaken in 1987. Cureatz asks if the Ministry, would consider reconstruction in Newtonville at an earlier date as there has been a continual problem with snow removal.
