Initially Cobourg set a per foot rate of $18.50, then reduced the rate to $16.50, then set a flat chargé of $350.00 and last week set a per foot rate of $14.00 per foot. The federal government who are pouring considerable money into harbour reconstruction had asked that a per foot rate be charged- which council resisted when they set the $350.00 flat rate fee which was requested by boat owners in the Cobourg Club. Joins battle to save Oshawa second marsh The Canadian En- vironmedtal Law Association has urged the federal government government to act upon a recent report which says the Oshawa Second Marsh is being destroyed. The federal Environment- Minister, John Roberts, has been asked to negotiate with Oshawa, the province and the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Conservation authority to implement implement the proposals in the federal report. Cuts Ganaraska funding $159,000 The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority like other authorities in the province province have had funding cut by the Ministry. Of this amount $150,000 will be taken from the Fort Hope flood plain project, $9,120 from water and related land management program administration and $780 from the outdoor education education facility. Doug Palmer, secretary- manager, has stated that reallocation within the budget is possible to meet these cuts. Mini-Vacations . for Oshawa Seniors Mini-Vacation '83. design- ' ed to give seniors an opportunity opportunity to see some of Oshawa's sights is now in operation being promoted by three students through the use pf a Canada Sunlmer Works Project. Through the program Oshawa's, less-mobile seniors will be able to visit Cullen Gardens, Parkwood Estates and as well picnic at the Harmony Harmony Creek Conservation area. The first Mini-vacation outing took place on Tuesday < with a followup, on July 26 when the tour will visit Cullen , Gardens. The last visit is to Parkwood Estates and a Lite Bite in the Parkwood arbour. The first French Immersion Immersion class to complete elementary school graduated this June from the C.R. Gummow School in Cobourg. The class started out as a pilot project under the jurisdiction of the Northumberland Northumberland and Newcastle .Board of Education. The sixteen graduating students will now attend a French Immersion program at the secondary level in Cobourg this fall. Calls off gas-bar feud Wally Hawkins, a gas-bar operator in Oshawa, who has confronted the City over their Sunday closing gas bar bylaw bylaw by staying open on Sundays Sundays and being charged on two occasions, has called off his fight.
