The project project under the thumb of the Ganaraska Conservation Authority with'funding from the Province and Port Hope is to facilitate a great flow of water through the Town alleviating possible flood threats in the future to a flood level of the storm in 1981. Although gasoline prices in general have increased over the past couple of weeks to 47.7 per litre for leaded gasoline there has been breaks especially in the rural areas of the Region. Last week a slight skirmish had gas prices reduced in^such as Port Perry, Manchester, Mryile and Highway 35 halfway to Lindsay. The reduction, has, ranged from seven to ten cents a litre. TENDERS LET FOR HOSPITAL EXPANSION Tenders have, been let in the amount of $405,000 for the construction of an extended extended care wing at the Dr. J.O. Ruddy Hospital, in Whitby. The total cost of the project is estimated at $660,000 of which amount the health ministry is providing providing $200,OOO with the remainder remainder to come from a local fundrraising -campaign that has now reached over the $250,000 mark. MAKE CLAIM OF $50,000 FOR ARENA* FUND Haldimand Township since last February has been seeking seeking àn additional $50,000 through the Wintario fund. The Township had thought Wintario \vould provide $2.00 for every $1.00 provided provided through local contributions contributions and Township funds. Wintario ruled against giving two for one dollars where the funds came front the municipal treasury, as a result the Township now finds itself $50,000 in the capital cost of their new arena in Grafton. The Township has made a number of appeals for the ad- ditonal $50,000.
