It is what makes the Orono Fair and this story could be repeated time and time again for the number of events that come to the public over the four-day period in this Village. Thank you all for your efforts efforts and assistance. It all made for a fine show.. alternate full-day^ kindergarten be instituted which it was claimed would save some $90,000 in transportation costs. It was also said that alternate full- day kindergarten had no drawbacks as to the education education of the young students. The Adhoc Committee will be studying various papers and comments ana plans are underway for the committee to visit the Victoria and Hastings Board of Education where full-day kindergarten operates and where members will be able to speak with teachers and possibly parents of children in attendance at the kindergarten. The meetings are open to the public but the public will not be allowed to participate in the meetings. It is typical, I think, of how the local fair continues tp offer offer fine opportunities for the visitors and the many hours of work that go into this annual annual event in the Village. It could be written as well of the poultry show, the Queen of the Fair Contest and many other features. The revamping of the old chicken house to ivfac- Donald's Farm required many hours of volunteer labour and here I would like to thank Bill Bunting as a demolition crew, a painter and artist for some of the backdrops which brightened up the building. Eric Mudd and his skill with the brush added further backdrops along with the skills of Terry Hardy in sketching some of the flats. This team brought a new dimension to the exhibit. Janet Moffat was another who dipped into the paint can for a good number of hours to add Colombo the farm and brought along a friend from Toronto, visiting in Bowman- ville,, to take on the challenge of painting one of the flats. Rqnniie Forrester was .another, to spend considerable considerable time in preparation of the fartn. Patti Breen, Mark Carman and Jonathan Staples are also included in the list. My thanks must also go to Russ Dow of R.R. 4 BowmanviHe. who late at night trucked in a cow and two calves, a ram, ewe and five goats to create some of the main features of the farm. These anirnls had all been part of the petting farm at the recent C.N.E. and were accustomed to the crowds that attended the show. Then the Don Staples provided the young pigs, Rusty McQuaid of R.R. 4 BowmanviHe eight young rabbit, Neal Smith of Tyrone area and Mrs. Lyle West, Orono,.a total of eight pups, Reid Harness for the hen and nine ducklings, Elmer Huggins, Nestleton for a pen of rabbits, Clare Mar- 6-Oronp Weekly Times, Wednesday, September 14, 1983 À Prize winning heavy horse team THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE FALL AND'WINTER 1983 Fitness Centre & Pleasure Swim Schedule (Starts Tuesday, September 6,1983) EARLY BIRD - PUBLIC Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. FAMILY SWIM Sundays 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. PUBLIC SWIM Mondays » 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. " ' Fridays, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Saturdays 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. , Satqrdays 7:15 - 9:00 p.m Sundays 3:00 - 5:00 p.rti.
