Over the past week and a » half I have visited the Garden Hill Pond on three occasions and on Sunday with, Rutherford Rutherford and Bunting we found the activity at the pond somewhat like Grand Central Station with arrivals and departures and a continual chatter from geese and a number of varieties of ducks. 1 do find it interesting to ■ watch these birds in their habits as dabblers tipping their backside to the sky as they duck under -water for food and those that make a practice of diving under the surface of the water in search of their necessities to sustain life. It is also a good iden- tifitation point to classify ducks before trying to pinpoint pinpoint the actual breeds. And then there are the ake-offs and the landings and each breed seems to have something a little differept from a solid plop into the water to first skimming along before settling in. The pad- dlers on take off hoof it along the surface to get the momentum momentum to, be air borne while such as the Mallard seems to ke directly off and up. ; As to the geese it seemed apparent that someone was in control and Rutherford refers to a definite pattern taken up by the big boss gander and his henchmen that keep everything in order and sound the take off note as wpll as the necessary warning notes in times of possible danger. Of course this all comes from his Indian friends that he so often quotes in the matter of the nature of things. ■ Well certainly there is a lot of cackling before tack-off and it must mean something to those great birds. Leaving the birds Donna and I took in "The Dead Zone" which I must say I thoroughly enjoyed but wasn't fast enough to catch the locals in the scenes shot at the Orono Town Hall. I couldn't miss Glady Brown of course as she does hit centre centre stage for a moment. Donna couldn't direct my attention fast enough for Harold Dean, Dean Cox and othe,rs she tried to point out. No doubt they were there but I'm just not fast enough. And then we again visited the Marigold Dinner Playhouse for "The Last of the Red Hot Lovers ", Prior to this visit I had no thought of what to expect but I can tell you I sure got a lot of laughs. It was not really what I thought it would be and I must say the part was right up Solway's alley, the frustrated 'would be" hustler of women. , FitzGerald states that men generally do enjoy the play and I suppose a man could well put himself in the place of the lead character and ending ending up with the same results. Anyways it was a night of many chuckles and some fine acting on the .part of both , Solway and FitzGerald. By the time you read this article Donna and I will have settled in in Edmonton for a week and certainly plan to get acquainted with our grandson grandson and family and possibly take in a few of the sights.
