Presented award in appreciation Held Thursday, November 24th, in Main Hall of Orono United Church. The hall looked looked very "Christmacy" with a very large spruce tree (courtesy of Dave Hinton) all lit up and covered with very colorful mittens. The mitts are to be donated to the Salvation Xmas Cheer Fund. The president welcomed everyone and especially visitors. Following the business period, the president made a presentation to Mrs. Madeline Hadley, on behalf of the Orono Library. Two new books were donated and Mrs. Hadley thanked the society for their gift. Doreen then presented an engraved silver spoon to Adele McGill in recognition of her many years of fruitful service as our .treasurer. Adele gave a very gracious reply and stated she enjoyed her work with the society. Entertainment for the even- • ing was supplied by Mr. & Mrs. Phil Hayman, Newcastle Newcastle and Mrs. Bonnie- Cowle, Bowmanville. But times do change and the latest move is in accord with shopping trends and wishes of the general purchasing public. The present owners, Bill and Charles Armstrong, were brought up in the business at an early age and are confident confident that the Orono area can and will Support a most modern facility for the grocery shopper. A brand new clast "Still Life", drew much attention and Yvonne " "• lord won the first prize.\_ Cory DeJonge won the "best arrangement" award for her cute miniature nut in' container. Doreen presented the "Presidents Award" for having having the most points through the year in decorative section, won this year by Isabelle Challice. Several lucky draws were held and lunch was served by the committee, Eleanor Tyrell, Joan Hollingworth and Margaret Gunter. We wish to extend to all our friends the compliments ofi the coming Christmas season and the very best for the New Year.
