Maple Syrup Day at Ganaraska Forest Centre On Saturday, April 5th, the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority will be offering its annual spring event. The general public is invited to join us in welcoming this season by participating in Maple Syrup Day at the Ganaraska Forest Centre. Tours of the sugar bush, lasting Vi hour, will commence at 10 a.m. and proceed untl.l p.m. or until, everyone has the opportunity to view the maple bush, and evaporating facilities. The content of the tour will be aimed at all age levels and we encourage people to make this a family outing. Note: Please dress for early spring conditions! conditions! This event is free to the general public. However, in addition to the tour, pancakes and maple syrup will be served up hot at a cost of $1.50 .per person. To start off the year we entered our club float in botli the Orono and Newcastle fall parades. Our theme was "Panda Dreamin" and # consisted of a 7-foot Panda Bear. This floa,t placed third in Newcastle and fourth in Orono. We also sponsored a street dance with support from the Orono Downtown Businessmens Association. Association. In September we got the Orono Teen Town (teen dances sponsored by the G.P.R. Kinsmen) off to an excellent start with very good attendance attendance by area teens. The club has also held 2 seniors Bingos v ' h were greatly enjoyed by the tv. j in attendance. ■ The G.P.R. has made donations to many organizations; sponsoring hockey teams (both in Orono and Newcastle), the March of Dimes, Big Brothers, The Red Cross, and Orono Figure Skating Club, we also sponsored a volleyball tournament tournament at the Pines Senior Public School and also sponsored an area student to attend the Terry Fox Centre in Ottawa. We have also made contributions to the Kirlsmen.Medfcal Hospital in Ethiopia. and the International Relations Organization. f Money was donated to purchase the necessary equipment to start an area Blood Testing Clinic held once a month at the Durham Senior Citizens Complex, the clinic dates and times are advertized in this paper. The second half of the year we hjeld the Great Pine Ridge. Children's Christmas Party, donated money to the Orono Town Hall restoration project and as usual held our very successful New Year's Eve dance. The G.P.R. Kinsmen Club was recently visited by students from Clarke High School asking for support support for the new chapter of S.A.D.D. (Students Against Driving Driving Drunk), which the club fully supports both financially and morally..
