The purpose purpose of the hearings is to give pro- • ducers, farm organizations and other interested parties an opportunity opportunity to express their views on the right to farm. The committee was established by Agriculture and ( Food Minister, Jack Riddell, to look into the need for new measures to protect the right to farm. The committee will make recommendations recommendations that will ensure that farmers have adequate protection from incompatible land uses and çomplaints against normal, farming practices. Current policies and legislations, such as the Planning Aet, thé Environmental Protection Act, the Occupier's Liability Act, Abandoned Orchards .Act, Weed Control Act and Hunter ; Damage Compensation Act, 'will bë evaluated. The adequacy of the pro- < posed ' Foodland Preservation Policy and the revised Code of, Practice for, protecting farm operations operations from complaints against normal farm practices will be evaluated. The committee will also review the role of the Ontario Farm Pollution Advisory Committee in resolving complaints against farm operations.
