' ^ Published Every Wednesday eased with response to official opening Ralph Mclnnis taking over M&M Variety Ralph Mclnnis of Newtonville has purchased the business and pro- pert y of M&M Variety in downtown Orono and takes over the operation as of May 1st. In speaking with Mr. Mclnnis lie said he would continue the opera 1 tion as a convenience store to be know as Orono Mini-Mart. The store will be open 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. seven days a week. He said he will also continue with the movie rentals and be the Orono depot for Brewer's Retail for the return of bottles. Mr. Mclnnis and family have been residents of Newtonville for the past 16 years during which time he was involved in electrical construction'in construction'in many parts of Canada. He said he welcomes the opportunity opportunity to take up business in Orono and plans changes at the Mini-Mart as-time allows. Mr. Mvles MacLeod states he is retiring from business and moving to MacTiet where he will operate a trapline. The MacLeods opened M&M Variety in Orono some fifteen years ago. Wendy Partner who opened Wendy B's Department Store in Orono last Thursday states she is well pleased with the response received from local and area citizens. The store is an asset to the downtown;area and Wendy is asking asking shoppers for their comments on further lines to carry in the department department store. She said a lot of items have yet to arrive but expects her full line to be complete in the near future. Winners declared in Name That Tune contest Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, April 23, 1986 Seek building lots in Clarke Two applications have been received by the Town of Newcastle for zoning changes to allow the creation of building lots in the former Township of Clarke. William and Katherine Rowland, have asked council to be allowed to establish a rural cluster permitting the creation of four building lots. The lots would be on part of lot 31 in Concession 7 in the Township. Propose designation of Orono Town Hall The general purpose committee of the Town of Newcastle has recommended to council that the Orono Town Hall be designated a historical site being the third time such a request was made by the LACAC committee for the hall. * The motion for the designation was supported by Councs. Hamre, Wooten and Llubbard and Mayor Winters with opposition from Counc. Cowman and McKnight. Jeanie Draper, Orono, was drawn the winner at the Village Bin with "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows' as well a winner at Imperial Imperial Pizza with "That's Amore". Robert Owens of Oshawa with 'Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head' was the winner at the Orono Times. Janette Bran with 'Run for - the Roses' was the winner at Deb's Fashions while Jeanne Staples was the winner at the Apple Blossom Shop with : "Yellow Rose of Texas". June Goodman, Orono with "Love Letters in the Sand" won the contest at Reflections and Mary Tapp, Orono, was the winner with 'Moonlight Serenda' at Cornishs. Charlotte Anderson was the winner winner at Matthews and Associates with "Teddy Bears' Picnic". Michelle Ross was the winner of the Hiar With Flair tune, 'The Streaker'. Trevor Lomax winner of Stutt's 'Heartbreak Hotel while Liz Sullivan of Newtonville was the winner of the 25th anniversary draw.
