TO ALLOW LINK HOUSING On Monday the general purpose committee of the Town of Newcastle Newcastle gave their approval to an application application to allow Link housing in an approved plan of sub-division in the Village of Newcastle. The approval allows the development development of link housing on 21 lots in the Foster Creek development in the west end of the Village of Newcastle. Newcastle. ' ' ROAD MAINTENANCE The Town of Newcastle, council members have authorized the Public Works Department to provide provide summer road maintenance to* Concession 9, lots 3 and 4 in the former Township of Clarke following following a request by John F.. McMillan. The road allowance is an unopened unopened road at the present time but will be added to the inventory of unimproved unimproved roads during the 1986 Road Needs Study update. A request for summer maintenance was requested by McMillan. It was pointed out that the road, in the past, has had some work undertaken in summer maintenance. Summer maintenance allows some minor work to be undertaken. TO MEET WITH BUILDING USERS A request by the Community Service Service department of the Town of Newcastle that meeting rooms in the Police and Fire Building in Bowmanville be not made available after 9:00 p.m. to community organizations was turned back to the department to meet with such groups to gain, their comments. ■ It was pointed out that the Regional Police will no ' longer be tenants in the building as'of July 1st when they move to ("heir new premises in the west end of Bowmanville!" It was further pointed out that without the police in the building there would-be a security problem and that the janitor only works to 9:00 p.m. -, ,. , , The department recommended that .that either the town hire additional staff , or not make the rooms available for user groups after 9:00 p.m. The department recommended closing the rooms after 9:00 p.m. and that the situation be monitored for a three month period- with a report coming back to council. The matter of the two plans came before council following a letter from Hampton requesting that the Hampton plan make provision for park facilities containing two ball diamonds and a junior soccer pitch. The Planning department noted that Development plans normally did not consider park development, but that allocations will be made for parkland within the plans. It was stated that a particular park block will be prepared by the Community Services department.
