"6-Orono Wfeekly Times, Wednesday, June 25, 1986 The graduating class, grade six, at the Grbno Public School celebrated with a picnic and games at the Qrono Park on Monday. Members of. the Home and School Club provided barbecued hamburgs and pop for the occasion. The students return to school in the fall attending the Pines Senior Public School. Lockhart-Orono News - Events On Wednesday, June 11 Madame Van Camp had a baby girl, named Mary Ruth. Mary Ruth weighed 8 lbs. 13 oz. Madame Van Camp was the French teacher in Orono, Lockhart, and Kirby. Congratulations! Congratulations! On Thursday, June 19 Orono- Lockhart School held its' Play Day. Students from both Orono and Lockhart participated in the Play Day. Students were put into teams. Every student enjoyed the activities and had lots of fun. Kindergarten students from Orono went on a class trip to, Bowman ville Zoo on June 18. The children enjoyed going to the zod and seeing all of the animals. All Students who participated in the Clarke Track & Field did very well. Some students brought back trophies. These people were Jim Partner, Shane McQue and Jennifer Jennifer Balson. Congratulations to everyone who participated. On June 24 Grade 6 students had . a barbeque down in the park. The students had lots of fun. We wish the Grade 6 students good luck next year in Grade 7. Report Cards went home on Wednesday, June 25. The students are excited about the summer holidays. We wish all the students a great summer holiday. Editor: Mike Smith Ken Symons, county clerk for 32 years Northumberland County's former clerk for 32 years, Ken Symons, died suddenly Saturday at Co, bourg District General Hospital at the age of 67 years. Symons had retired as clerk January 1, 1984. Previous to his clerk's position he was treasurer of Harwod creamery for thirteen years. Orono Public School graduating class Lockhart Gossip AWARDS ASSEMBLY ■' The annual awards assembly was held on Tuesday, June 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lockhart gymnasium. Students were presented with achievement, attitude, and activity awards. Grade 3 and Grade 6 graduates took their awârd cef-, tificates home but the remaining students' certificates will be kept at school. Families and friends were invited to attend. LOOKING BACK Since this is my final column, I would like to recall some of the more memorable events of this great year. * Lets start with our Christmas Concert, a smash hit with extremely talented performers. A particular sensation was the "Lockhart Rockers" with their lead singer, Jeremy Brace leaping from the stage. Unfortunately, they failed to make Chum 30. Other glowing stars were Boo Hoo Bird (Amanda L^bignan) and Michellç Ross who sang "I Love to Laugh". The All Star choir including every student at "Lockhart, and conducted by Mrs. Ralfe produced beautiful Christmas music.
