In speaking of phase two of the development on a 20 to 25 acre site the councillor referred to the possibility of two ball diamonds and maybe a fitness centre. He said it was not the intention intention to have a large meeting room at the present time but was a possibility providing funding funding was available. Counc. jMcKnight did say that one of the sites was close to an existing hall which possibly could be used in conjunction with the proposed arena. Council has set a figure of $2.8 million for the arena of which amount $630,000 is expected expected from Wintario where an application has already been made, $700,000 from the Town of Newcastle, $200,000 from the sale of excess land, $500,000 from the Ontario Hydro account account and . $750,000 from fund raising in the surrounding community. community. , McKnight said the objective of the meeting was to setforth with a committee of interested citizens to focus in on funding raising for the $750,000.
