I Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, September 17, 1986-7 Orono-Lockharts News Report On Monday, September 8 the- boys and girls House League teams started. Two of the girls' House League teams, the Dragons and Panthers, played an exciting game of soccer. The Dragons won 1-0. The" goal was scored by Casey Mc- Que. The same teams in the boys league played and the score remained remained 0-0. This year the school has designed a Jr. Kindergarten, Mrs. Staples is the teacher and Miss David'is a new teacher who is teaching the morning Sr. Kindergarten class. Another new teacher is Miss Walker, replac ing Mrs. Cowen in the Gr. 1/2 class. ■ Since the marriage of Mile Anderson this pasl summer, she will now be addressed as Madame Joe. Another change at the school is the construction of the new wall. The wall separates the Library from Mrs. Brown's grade 2/3, Mrs. Wight's tir. 4 and Mr. Denike'sGr. 5. By Ashley Bùrnham and Casey Mc- Que, Gr. 6 Orono The Durham Sheep Producers were most evident at the Orono Fair having a display in the new agricultural exhibit building along with 4-H exhibits and other agricultural related exhibits. Pines Senior Public News Report Well, here we are for another "Wonderful" year at The Pines. We would like'to welcome cur new Principal, Mr. Medd, as well as our new Vice-principal, Mr. Nobes. We • hope they will have a successful first year at The Pines. More welcomes are due to Mrs. D. Moore, the new Grade 8 core teacher and part-time science teacher, and to Mrs. Vesna, the new night custodian who is replacing Mr. R. Armstrong, now at Hampton Hampton P.S. A major change for the better is thé division of students at lunch- hour. The Grade 8's now eat from 1:45 to 12:10 while the Grade 7's --re outside, and then the Grade 7's eat from, 12:20" to 12:45 while the Grade 8's are outside. This makes the lunchroom quieter and more ' comfortable. On Friday, September 5th. the students of The Pines were able to e go for the afternoon to the Orono Fair. The students marched from Orono P.S. to the fairgrounds, in a large parade containing many other schools. / The best 1 marching house was 7A-8A Ganaraska, which received 50 house points. At the fair, the school held many contests, which ranged from 3-legged races to a mighty tug of war, in which McLaughlin House triumphed. Students' work was on display at the fair, showing visitors what fihe students» we have at The Pines.
