Spotlight on Skating -ORONO SKATING CLUB By Marilyn Ransberry Only a couple of weeks now, until until our winter skating season begins. ■ We hope you are looking forward to it! Skaters who have completed their badges in our Canskate program, have a choice of two programs in' our club. A few skaters are ready to start the next' phase of our program and others will be ready throughout the year. First for those who wish to con.- tinue skating, and learning for recreation - the Canfigurskate program program is an inexpensive way to continue continue to enjoy skating. A club professional, professional, paid by the club will give you lessons in a small group. You will receive a figure lesson (called "Patch" by skaters as they each have their own patch of ice to do their figures on). Also lessons in dance and freestyle will be given. Recently a competition just for Canfigurskaters has been held each year in Lindsay. Last year these skaters were included in Pineridge Interclub Competition for the first time competing in their own section. section. For the skater who wishes to advance advance more quickly or take part in more competitions the C.F.S.A. Intermediate Intermediate program is for you. The club provides you with more ice time than the Canfigureskater. However you must hire your own coach or "pro" to give you individual individual lessons. Your coach will also help plan your advancement, answer questions questions concerning competitions, test days etc. make up your freestyle solo, tape your music and' advise you on dress, skates etc. They will usually be with you on test days and at competitions. Our, pros charge from $5.00 to $7.00 per lesson. The number of lessons you will have is decided by your parents and "pro". You can change your mind and change programs but, it is best to think carefully what you want from skating before deciding. See you at the rink!
