The brief called attention to the concerns of the board of education and the local municipalities as to the declining financial support from the province and the impact this is having on local taxpayers. The brief also outlined difficulties experienced experienced in assessment-poor regions. As a result of the meeting the Minister of Education has assigned a team of financial experts to assess whether the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education is taking full advantage of the provincial provincial grant system. Donna Fairey, chairman of the board of education, said, "We felt it was a very positive meeting." Jenkins The Orono Guides now have a total enrolment of thirty-six young girls front the community. 1 It was the first time a joint brief had been presented to the minister from a local board of education and local area municipalities. Thanks to the president, Mrs. J. Burton and all the ladies in the Kinettes from Orono and Lockhart Schools, Mrs. Clifford will be purchasing library books, for our school libraries with it. This year our school is sponsoring sponsoring the Ontario Junjpr Citizen of the Year Awards Program. This award is to provide recognition for outstanding achievement or acts of courage, fortitude, and selfishness by the young people ■ of this province. province. Air, will select the award recipients from all the nominations received. The Ontario Ontario Junior Citizens of the Year* receive a plaque citing their accomplishments, accomplishments, a Junior Citizen of the year lapel pin, $200.00 and a family portrait with the Lieutenant Governor. Sometime this week they will be having a test on experiments. The kids got back from Hallowe'en. But...on Monday November 3rd some didn't prive at school because they were sick from all their CANDY! Fives and Sixes have started a Daily Thought book. The class has 5 min. to write down how they feel and what their thoughts are. The class can either share it with the class, keep it to themselves or they can hand it into Mr. Eames. On November 11 it is Remembrance Remembrance Day. The class is making poems and stories to show their respect to the soldier who fought for us in the War. Halloween Dance held on November 7th was a smashing success success for Clarke High School. Almost seven hundred dollars was profitted because of the excellent school spirit. A professional D.J. from Peterborough helped pack the ' Clarke gym with an Audio Visual Special, containing exciting light shows and great music. All of the students had a great time showing ' off their imaginative costumes.
