Orono Tennant Fuels ÔMHA Atoms exhibition game against Oshawa L.N.H.L. Bruins In a Saturday evening exhibition game the Orono Tennant Fuels OMHA Atoms'faced off against the Oshawa Little N.H.L., Bruins and skated away with a well earned 5-3 victory. The spirits were high in both dressing rooms before the game and it carried right into the game. From the drop of the puck the Orono squad carried the play into the Bruin zone to pressure their goalie, but only to come away without a goal. Play continued up and down the ice until the 7:09 minute mark of the first period when the Bruins, jplaying short-handed intercepted a pass and broke in free on a two to none attack. The Br.uin, Darin Bates, faked a pass and shot 'low the Orono goalie's glove, side and scored to give the visitors a 1-0 lead:- The Bruin lead was short lived. As Stephen Shetler took a pass from the Orono goalie Jarrett Aus and stick handled the length of the ice, through the entire Oshawa Bruin team, pulled the goalie and nicely flipped the puck into the net to tie the score at one. Halfwav through the second period Orono Tennant Fuels took the lead for good when Jean-Paul Tousignant picked up the puck at his own blue line and again stick handled nicely through the Bruins line up and blasted a shot high into the net, unassisted. Paul Flintoff made the score 3-1 early in the third period when he took passes from Stephen Stadelman and Brandon Ovenden near the Orono blueline, then he too worked his way through the Bruin defenders, pulled the goalie and shot the puck into the Bruin net. Oshawa came back to make the score 3-2 after a scramble beside the Orono net had left the Orono goalie Jarrett without a stick, the Bruins Billy Thibodeau fired the puck under the goalie's pads. Orono came back, less than a minute later, on some pretty stick handling by Trevor Lomax in thé Bruins end, and a perfectly timed quick drive by Chris Yeo to again give Orono a two goal advantage. The Bruins again cut this lead when, on a break away, Jarrett Aus stopped the initial shot but couldn't grab the rebound. Stephen Stadelman finished the scoring after passes from Mike Landers and Brandon Ovenden. The Tennant Fuels first encounter encounter with Little N.H.L. competition competition was a big success and it showed that the coaching efforts of Peter Landers were starting to pay dividends. The team played good position and made heads up passes to keep the play in the opposition end for much of the game. Persistent Persistent forechecking kept the Oshawa Bruins good scoring opportunities to a minimum. The Tennant Fuels Atoms next game will be against Omemee at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 29th.
