Spotlight on Skating with Orono Club By Marilyn Ransberry Now that the holidays are over skaters will be working hard on their figures and freeskate solos for upcoming competitions. This Sunday there will be a small club runoff competition for places at Pineridge Interclub Competition. Charlene Lewis, Tracy Eames, Tanya Gates and Shannon MacGregor will be competing for three places while Ashley Burnham, Tanya Clemens, Catherine Mudd and Briar Ransberry will compete for two competition places. There will be no senior skating on Sunday due to these runoffs. Uxbridge is holding their annual Invitational Freeskate Competition Jan. 23, 24, and 25. Many of our skaters will be taking part. Orr Feb. 14 and 15 Pineridge Interclub Interclub Competition will be held. This competition is limited to our local clubs only: Orono, Bowman- ville, Newcastle, Whitby, Uxbridge, Oshawa, Ajax, Port Perry, . Cobourg and Port Hope. Each club is limited to two or. three competitors in each category depending on the group (2nd figure and up are limited to two places). Clubs must hold a runoff competition competition if they have more skaters qualified who wish to compete. Some girls will also compete at various competitions outside our area. The Library Needs Assessment Study will make both short-term and long-term recommendations for the development of library service in the Town of Newcastle.
