The Fiftieth Anniversary This skier was by no means alone On Sunday at the Oshawa Ski Club east of Kirby but like hundreds upon hundreds of others he prepares to shove-off for a run down the Standard run towards the clubhouse. According to $)ick Rutherford ' there was a large crowd out skiing on Sunday. The Ski Club has been in operation since December 13th. The Oshawa Ski Club celebrates its Fiftieth anniversary this year. Orono- Lockharts School News The Orono Public School wishes Mr. Maclvor good luck in becoming becoming the principal at Thomas Gilbart in Cobourg. The Grade Six class made Mr. Maclvor a farewell card with the whole class signing it. We welcome Mr, Mandryk to our school because he is going to become our new Vice Principal after the Christmas Holiday. On Monday, December 15th the P.T.A. who are Mrs. Wallace, Mrs. Roy and Mrs. Shetler were handing out prizes from the cookie sale. The cookie sale was very successful and the two top sellers were Tammy Gylytiuk and Justin Hughes who each received a telephone. On Tuesday, December 16th the whole school (if they wanted to) got to see the movie about the "101 Dalmatiens" with only a small charge of 75 cents per person. On Thursday, December 18th the junior choir performed before the whole Orono School. Afterwards the school sang carols with the choir. Cowman said she was disappointed that the Region would not make a move on additional water and sewage services for the Courtice area. She said however that there was need for sidewalks along portion of Number Two highway. Counc. Cowman suggested a future use of the old Bowmanville arena could be that of a farmer's market "or flea market. She said such a scheme could bring a lot of people to downtown Bowmanville. Counc. During the past eight month period the hostel served about 1900 people and handed out 16,000 meals. Close to 5,100 lodgings were supplied.
