Hallowe'en was being celebrated. Kindergarten with Mrs. Deremo i' Miss David's Junior for Hallowe en on Friday and were morning session. Kindergarten were all decked out taking parts in games during the Iasi year. Parents and friends arc also welcome to come to the show, free of charge. The play ties in with the grade eight course in history. The Rebellion took place in Ontario, centered in what now is the Toronto area. The basic idea was that the common people were upset about the way the government was running running the place. The play is partly comedy, and each actor or actress will play several roles. Kelly Couch, Jenny Childs and Jason McMaster GIRLS SOCCER TOURNAMENT On Thursday, October 29th, the Pines, Bowmanville, Knox, St. Stephens and M. J. Ho.bbs all gathered together for a school soccer soccer tournament held at M.J. Hobbs in Hampton. The girls first game was aginst Bowmanville but unfortunately we lost five to one. The Pines only goal was scored by Megan Davies. Between Between games we went over to cheer the boys oh. The girls second game was against Knox and this time they won one to zero. The Pines goal was scored by Carrie Farrow. Âll players played extremely well over all and they came out consolation consolation champs. by Janice Rickard The Pines Report Students Brett Rogers and Jennifer Jennifer Easton spent October 30th outdoors, .participating in an enrichment program called " Welcome 'To The World of Wildlife."ln preparation for the event, the two students were required required to research two endangered species. The program'took place at a former school now used as a nature site. On the 20th of November Professional Professional Activity Day some members of The Pines staff will be taking an intensive first aid course while students enjoy a day off. Mr. Prole is coaching the girls' volleyball team while Mr. Nobes coaches the boys. Houseleague and band will be going on all through the year. The Pines is lucky to have several co-op students from Clarke High School helping out in various subjects. subjects. It was * a week for the United Way fundraising. fundraising. Everybody Contributed generously. generously. Both the students and the staff had fun! Here is a list of what each house did: - , Hudson House had a "Sweet Treat Bake Sale." Iroquois House had "Crazee Contests" Contests" where you win yourself a prize. McLaughlin House had "Fun Fest" where you could also win a prize. Gcnaraska House had an "In- side/Outside Hallway Yard Sale" where the students brought in old items they did not want anymore. On Friday, October the 29th there was a dance and everyone who came through the door with a costume on, the Student Council donated .50 cents to the United Way. . Kelly Couch, Jennifer Childs and Jason McMaster CAMP TAWINGO The "grade eight students have just returned from their annual trip to Camp Tawingo. Starting on Monday, October 19th, we had four {unfilled days of outdoor education which included activities such as Geology, Vita par Cours, Orienteering, Camp Craft, In itiative Tasks and the Survival Game. Each of these activities took up two hours of the morning or afternoon. This trip wouldn't have been possible without the teacher organization and parent volunteers. In the evenings, the school was entertained by the Tawingo staff, Jorgi and Mike. On "Skit Night," the tables were turned and each cabin entertained the rest with a skit. Our favourite, was the skit "Pineralla," a classic. We at the Pines, would like to thank these parents for the time they devoted to making our trip a great success. Sincere thanks to Mrs. Jess, Mrs. Roughlfey ? Mrs. Heneberry, Mrs. Scott, Msl Hall, Mr. Pitt and Mr. McKenzie. They might see these reporters at Camp Tawingo again! Janice Rickard and Leslie Plazek .
