Connecting link would also be planned with highway 401 in a number of municipalities including the Town of Newcastle. Both the Region and the Provin- cicial Ministry has turned aside a proposed South Corridor. The South Corridor dips south in the former Clarke Township to the sixth concession and then would have joined with highway 115-35 just north of Kirby. It. is pointed out in the Regional report that the corridor is far from being settled at this time and cpn- sideration is yet to be made as to what use the highway would have for the Kawartha Lake area. The • Central route is..the choice at this point by both bodies but such a route is not specifically established.
