Dear Sir: We, the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of the Great Pine Ridge, feel we are lacking in community support. support. We think this, perhaps, is due to the fact that many are unaware of our existence. May I please take this opportunity to introduce our clubs to your readers? Our two clubs have a total of 19 active members. We operate highly successful New Year's Eve and. Street Dances in Orono. We also run a bi-monthly bingo which is in danger of being discontinued because of poor attendance. We make donations to all our local schools and starting this year, all our local seniors' homes. We have supported two hockey teams and two volleyball tournaments. We are ipvolved with the S.A.D.D. program. program. We make donations' to United Way, Sick Kid's Hospital, Cancer Research and maby worthy causes. Our national service project is the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Foundation. Across Canada, Kinsmen and Kinetics have raised more than $10 million over the last 23 years for C.F. Last year, our Kinsmen Club alone donated over $25,000. This was mostly due to their participation participation in an Annual House Draw sponsored by Kinsmen in Durham Region. Although few tickets were sold in our community, our club was still permitted to donate our equal share of C.F. Presently we are selling Giant Christmas Colouring Books in order to help buy playground equipment for St. Francis of Assissi . Separate School. Our motto'is "Serving the Community's Community's Greatest Need" and we do this with pleasure. But without community support, all we have to offer is manpower, and that alone cannot fill a needy Christmas Hamper, or buy school library books. If anyone would, like information about our fundraisers, services, house draw, Cystic Fibrosis or even . just to attend one of our dinner meetings, please feel free to call 987-5491. Get to know us so that we can serve you better. Anne Arsenault Treasurer Great Pine Ridge Kinettes An evasive dream It has always been a dream to be organized as far as the newspaper is concerned and that it could be put to bed at least a couple of hours before press time on Tuesday afternoon. afternoon. But the dream has always evaded us due to last minute writeups writeups that I should have done well in advance of final make-up. And then the editorials have always been last-minute ventures. It has resulted in utter chaos on Tuesday afternoon. afternoon. But following the Post Office meeting on November 17th I was to make another effort in better organization with the result that I sat right down and completd an account account of the meeting. Wednesday morning it was put on file for the November 25th issue at which point the whole affair left my mind. » Scanning through the paper on November 25th I realized that the article was not included and after all I had expected it woul'd be a front page article. I had forgotten to tell either Elaine or Chris that I was now well organized and that in fact the article had been written a week ahead of time. It had become smoothered in hockey write-ups and what have you and rested where I had placed it a week before. So much for being organized for it appears that the system of chaos is too much a part of the Orono Times system to make any change now. But that was not all my problems last week. •Since changing the ' brand of negative paper for the individual pages» to speed up the process I have been interchanging this' paper with that for the pictures. They both now come in the same size box and of a similar colour. Using Using the wrong negative paper for the pictures just does not work and does not give proper contrast. It was a case last week of using the wrong paper. But we will try again with some form of organization I am sure and I would hope with better results. We can always hope, at least. The following were successful on their Elementary badge: Kaitlin Colville, Julie Peacock, Nicole Wilhelm. Congratulations skaters!
