4-Oroho Weekly Times, Wednesday, February 17, 1988 SPORTS Orono Juicers outscore opposition in 3,17-1 On Saturday, February 13th, the Juicer's travelled to Port Hppe to play an exhibition game for Young Canada Week. Orono out-scored the opposition 4 - 0. Orono's goals were scored by Grant Esler, Greg Bull, Brian Hogenhout and Chris Mumby. Assists going to Brian Hogenhout with two, Grant Esler with two, Greg Bull with one, Amanda Haines with one and Chris Mumby with one. Orono was then asked to stay and play the next game against another Port Hope team as the original team couldn't make it. The Juicer's had a 10 minute break and went out on the ice beating Port Hope'5 -1. Juicer's goal scorers were Wade Peacock, Danny MacDonald, Amanda Haines and Greg Bull with two. Assists went to Danny MacDonald, Danny Buttigieg, Steve Wilson, Wade Peacock and Grant Esler. Orono Juicer's then travelled to Manvers February 14th to face the Manvers Redmen and defeating them 8 - 0. Fantastic goaltending by Manver's Shaun Cameron kept the score froth becoming much higher as he played in net. Goals went to Danny MacDonald with 2, Chris Mumby with 2, Greg Bull with 2, Wade Peacock with 1, Amanda Haines with 1, assists going to Jeff Gates, Amanda Haines, Grant Esler, Chris Mumby and Danny MacDonald. After the loss against Millbrook, Coach Sawyer was quite dissatisfied with the players performance, therefore felt the team was in need of a great shake-up. Amanda Haines came out of net to make her mark as a goal-scorer while Scott Sawyer replaced her in net, Chris Mumby went up to forward, Jeff Gates and Brian Hogenhout were put back on defense, the Squirt line was broken up and the veteran lines are no more. These major changes displayed the Juicer's excellent hockey talents. Coach Sawyer would like to thank his young hockey plaryers for the cooperations cooperations on these team changes, the players adopted very well and the results were very rewarding, The Juicer's next game is Saturday, Saturday, Febtuary 20th against Millbrook where the Juicers will be looking for a win. Orono Tykes notch five in third for 8-0 win The Orono Tykes dosed out last weeks action with a game in Newcastle. Orono has ' dominated Newcastle all year, this game being the fourth victory in Orono's favour. The score was 8 - 0 but was- much closer than it sounds until the third period where Orono got 5 of their goals. To Newcastle's credit they kept things close with hard work, but 1 think their one hour practice before the game showed in the end. It took Orono until the last minute of the first period to score? by Adam VanDam assisted by Kevin Copping. Adam had another of. his great games adding 3 more goals and 2 assists before the game was over. David Harman with 1 "goal and 3 assists definitely had his best game this year on offense. David is usually a defenseman, given a chance as a forward he came through with flying colours. Andrew Andrew Reid had his usual steady game with 1 goal and 2 assists. Steven Foster playing defense for a , change, and doing it well got the third goal of the game which opened opened the flood gates. Kyle Seacock got his first goal of the year with hard work in front of the Newcastle net. Amy McAllister passed the puck out to Kyle who fell to his belly belly stopping the puck, then fought the goalie for what .seemed like minutes and on his fourth or fifth try the puck went into the net. Jeremy Pare also a forward for a change chipped in with 1 assist. Mike Hutton Jr. played strongly in the Orono net getting his second shut-out, in his third turn. Orono's strength was %heir passing of which there was 25 to 30 passes or attempt of passes in this game which i,s very high for this age group, with this kind of heads up' play Orono has and will continue to win more than their share of games. Orono's been playing solid hockey of lale and this game was no exception as they skated away with a - 3 to 2 victory! Little Britain scored the opening goal at 3:12 of the first period, but with just 33 seconds remaining David Crozier banged one in to tie it at 1 each. Orono Pee Wees take double win - Bewdley The Orono O.M,H.A. PeeWee's played Bewdley in back to back games Monday, February 8 and Wednesday, February 10 in another two games of the round robin playoffs. Orono won the first game 1 - 0. Jarret Ans had the shut out for Orono. The first two periods were scoreless. It wasn't until with 11:42 left in the third period that Dustin Reid out one in the net assisted by Brad Minnis The penalties were split 3-3 between between the two teams.
