The Drop-Out rate by Janet Crowther The Newcastle and Northumberland Northumberland Board of Education is beginning to look at "drop-outs" as more than drop-outs. The Board will be starting a new program program which will run for a 2 year Cycle, Cycle, to improve the schools and their education programs. Whenever possible follow-ups will be made on students who leave school before their graduation, to aid the improvement improvement program. These followups followups may be in the form of exiting interviews which schools will conduct conduct with all students intending to leave school. The director of education, Gary Tushingham, has said that some students leave school for legitimate reasons, such as being offered a good job when they have only a few credits left to obtain, so therefore they take the job and make up the credits at a later date. A recent, government report showed that 40-45% of students who drop out of school do so because they are not satisfied with the educational system and feel alienated at school. A goal that Newcastle and Northumberland Northumberland schools would like to accomplish is to decrease the number of students wishing to drop - out of school. Making students feel more comfortable at school and letting letting them know how valuable their education is will help to fulfill this goal.. Support the April Campaign.
