The failure of plastics to break down in the environment has made the problem of disposal a nightmare. But the amount of plastic litter everywhere is also an indication that many people refuse to take responsibility for their own garbage. Since ever present litter on beaches, and in woods and parks is a deterrent to everyone's enjoyment, enjoyment, the majority Of Canadians would like to do something about it. What can we do? We can make sure that our own garbage is not left about as litter. But that does nothing to solve the problem of all our plastic garbage which will long outlast us.
