These young trees will be transplated out to the seed orchards when four to five years of age. According to Dave Moore the Orono Nursery has one of the oldest White Pine Seed Orchards in the country and continues to be a viable orchard. Moore states that quality and production of the orchards are continually continually monitored so as to provide quality stock from the seed. Karen and Darla are working in one of the many cold frames operated at the Orono Nursery.
