4-Omim U vvkl> I inns, Wednesday, October 12, 1988 Wild flower arrangements were a real attraction at the Orono Horticultural Horticultural show and meeting held last Thursday evening. The show was well presented with a good number of exhibits. John Rekker of Bowmanville was the guest for the evening. Two George's in the family In our family, there are only two "Georges," (thank heavens). I am one, and this is a resume of the other one. When a boy is in school and is reasonably good looking, and intelligent, intelligent, he is often considered "available" (or so my daughters used used to tell me-many years ago). When he attains middle age he suddenly (and hopefully) becomes "attractive", but it's not until he reaches the autumn of his life, and providing he has retained some of his earlier "assets" plus the experience experience that only health,, wealth, and happiness cart provide, does he (apparently) earn the title of being, "distinguished." (Note: Webster's Dictionary defines this xas being "conspicuous", which in turn means mentally or physically visible?) visible?) George has reached that-plateau, and is rather distinguished - of course that title can also mean "one of a kind" and George is definitely one of a kind - the only one (thank heavens!!!). When "they" fashioned fashioned Gçorge, the powers to be decided that ônece was enough, and promptly promptly threw away the mold. fte is a man of habits (and who isn't?) From my observations 1 have concluded that a daily breakdown would work out somethingHike this, eight hours sleeping, three hour's for. meals, a further three hours in the bathroom? Two hours reading nly daily paper, and the rest of the day split between playing cards, writing cards to friends and sight seeing, (and on the streets of Orono in the summer, 1 must admit there's some pretty good sights to see.) He likes his tea in bed, he is partial partial to a "Molson Ex" with his lunch, and on rare occasions a brandy before bedtime. So he obviously obviously has good taste, (He married my wife's sister, so he obviously possess that attribute?) But of course you have to realize that he is an Englishman, and having once been one myself, that is praise indeed. indeed. ■ We see him every two years, or there abouts. He seems to like it here in Orono, and its getting to the point where it really isn't summer in our house, when he's not around. So stay healthy George, and come back to bug me another summer. summer. An unfortunate effect of this decision is that all public schools in the province may now be perceived as schools without firm values and moral standards, he said. That is far from the case, according to Moor- craft, who pointed out that in the Northumberland and Newcastle icgion, a number ot programs at^ the elementary and secondary levels" examine values and moral conduct. Moorcraft said people wishing to express their opinion or concerns should go straight to the Province as it was a provincial decision. According to the Chief Superintendent, schools in this region will continue to use O'Canada in their opening and closing exercises and may include God Save the Queen. Bob Moorcro ft. Chief Superintendent, said the Board is making the announcement with "considerable concern and regret. He said the Board is establishing a committee to study readings or prayers which would replace the Lord's Prayer in the region's schools as quickly as possible and added that the issue will be discussed discussed by trustees at the upcoming Board Meeting on October 13th.
