The OMHA Novice play their home games on Friday nights at 7:15 with the Tri-County PeeWees playing at 8:15 and the Juveniles at 9:15 p.m. The OMHA* PeeWees and Bantams play home games on Monday nights at 7 and 8 p.m. The OMHA Atoms play home games on Tuesday nights at 7:30 p.m. while the Tykes and Tri-County Novice play Saturday afternoons at the Orono arena. . r *.. The hockey season is now iti full swing at the Orono Arena with the schedule of play starting this week. The Orono Athletic Association has playing under its banner this year in the OMHA division one Novide, an Atom, PeeWee, Bantam and Juvenile team. It is a first for a number of years for the local sponsor to ice a Juvenile team which is m;idc up of players from the Orono and Newcastle areas. In the Tri-County league Orono has iced a Novice and Pee Wee team. Happenings . . . FUND RAISING'FOR UNITED WAY- The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Orono Branch, is holding a Sake draw in aid of the Oshawa-Whitby-Newcastle United Way. The draw is being held on October 28th. Branches in Newcastle and Bowmanville are holding similar draws. Keeps garbage contract costs under wraps According to Larry Kotseff, chief administrative officer of the Town of Newcastle, the contract dealings with BFI for the Town wide garbage garbage pick-up is being kept confidential confidential until such time as a decision has been made .by .the Ontario Municipal Board as to their ap- proval or denial. Kotseff stated that if a denial was handed down on the five year con tract then other interests would have the BFI figures and would be placd in an unfair position. Both councillors Frank Stapleton and Diane Harare have stated it is 'the best deal that could be made and with Harare stating it is one of the greater achievements of the past few years, that of instituting a Town-wide garbage pick-up. David Gray and Shirley Robson, both incumbents return as trustees for Ward One while Mike Slocombe and A. Brunt have been acclaimed in Ward Two. It's a different story in Ward Three where three are seeking voter support for the two positions as , trustees for the Ward. Those seeking election are William Carman, Orono, John Smithson, Newcastle and Debbie Nowian, Newtonville. William Carman Carman is an incumbent while Bob Willsher, who currently serves on the board has not sought re- election. Separate School Board Mrs. C. Burke, A. Bayliss and .1. O'Toole seek election to the Separate School Board representing the Town of Newcastle. Two of the three are to be elected. (Continued page 8) The Town of Newcastle General Purpose comrriittee has instructed Larry Kotseff, chief administrative officer, to follow-up on Concerns expressed at Monday's meeting by Roÿ Forrester, chairman of the Orono Downtown, Business Association. Kotseff is to resolve his concerns, determine the cause and report back to council. Forrester in addressirig the committee committee stated that in the 1988 budget the Town had set aside funds for the enforcement of parking in the Orono downtown. Hp said some two and a half months ago the parking by-law officer was taken off the job without any notice to the D.B.i.A from the Town. He said he was lead to believe ij was only only temporary but that downtown was still without the parking enforcement enforcement service. He also said that parking signs had been damaged in the downtown area on both the Regional road and the Town roads and that it was useless to ticket cars in these areas because charges were thrown out of court. Forrester said the damaged signs had been reported but have never been replaced.
