In terms of the master'plan, the lion's share of the remaining $1 million would involve extending a sewer line to the site from the Cobourg sewage treatment plant. The offer to the county is 100 acres to the south and east of the current site. Soil conditions on the new property property are thought to be more suitable for landfill than the gravel bed on which the current site is., located. Newton ville native reaches the century mark On October 26th Maggie Walkey of Community Nursing Home, Port Hope celebrated her 100th birthday. birthday. She was a former resident of Newtonville. Bom and raised in the Newtonville Newtonville area Maggie Walkey is the daughter of Thomas and Joanne Moffat and was married to George Walkey in 1913. They lived on a farm just outside Newtonville. She has one daughter, Jessie who is the wife of Roy Best and lives on a farm east of Newtonville. The centenarian has three grandchildren, grandchildren, eight greatgrand children and one great great grand child. Walkey remains alert, walking outside most days and states she still enjoys life even at her age.
