Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, November 9, 1988-9 Un Tuesday October 24, 1988 seven Grade 6 students from Orono Public School joined about 500 other boys and girls from south eastern Ontario at a Cross Country Meet at Trinity College in Port Hope. The students- Stephanie Childs, Becky Clarke, Caroline Fletcher, Tamara Kent, Laura McDonald, Joanna VanDyke and Ian Anderson ran a 2,500 meter (1 'A mile) course which skirted the Trinity College Campus and included open fields, an orchard, a cornfield and a 'slippery' 'slippery' ski hill. ■ Out of a total of 86 girls Caroline Fletcher (pictured above) secured a fourth place for the Grade 6 girls in a time of 11 minutes 5 seconds. Canada Post offers Christmas mail discount Low profile agency suddenly in demand For the better part of the past eight years, Northumberland Family Family Respite Services quietly went about its business. All that has changed in the past six months. What had been a low-profile, provincially funded agency providing providing relief to families with children requiring special needs suddenly found itself with a rapidly, increasing demand for its services and a corresponding shortage of volunteers to supply them. Family Respite is now looking foi additional volunteers. even easier for customers to use.
