Tara-Lee Clemens has moved to Canfigureskate Canfigureskate after completing her Novice II badge. In the Canskate program the Beginner group of Kathryn Cartwright, Cartwright, Sheri Thiele, Katie-Ann Riley, Tyson Gimblett, Rebecca Boyd, Mathew Reid, Christy Spracklin and Dustin Weagant have passed to Elementary. Parents of Seniors, Intermediate and Canfigureskate are reminded that a parent is required to be in attendance attendance at the arena during skating hours. A calendar has been posted on the lobby bulletin board. Everyone is asked to sign and take their turn. The club congratulates Melissa Colville who brought home a trophy from "Cobourg Skate" competition. Melissa placed third in her category. Three groups, Orono Public School, Orono Guides and Brownies and Orono Scouts, all took part in carol singing on the steps of the Town Hall to the delight of a large audience on Friday Friday evening. Newcastle 3 - Pickering 3 On Thursday, October 27th the Mikes Place Midgets played host to Pickering and came away with a 3-3 tie, a game which should have been won only for too many penalty minutes (34). The second period saw the local lads open the scoring on a goal by Mike Pearce assisted by Dwayne Foster and Rick Black, only to see Pickering come right back less than a minute later to tie the game 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Derek Voycey. The 50 seconds later Pickering's Dean Pella put the visitors ahead 2-1 as the local lads just scrambled all over the place with no positional play at all. With 0:03 seconds left in the period Drÿl. Burke tied the game at 2-2 assisted by Brian Rodd and Tim Bailey. The thy-d period saw Daryl Burke score his second of the game to put the local lads ahead 3-2, again assisted by Brian Rodd, and Tim Bailey. With 4:23 left in the game Pickering's Dean Pella came up with his second of the game to tie the score at 3-3. As in the first game too many penalties kept the local lads from a win. Newcastle 9 - Bowmanville 5 On Tuesday, November 2nd'the Mike's Place Midgets travelled to Bowmanville to meet their area rivals and came away with an impressive impressive 9-5 victory for their first win of the,young season. The first period saw Newcastle outscore the Bowmanville club by a score of 4-2 with goals going to: Jason Carroll, Daryl Burke, Brian Rodd and Jan Vanderheyden, with assists going to Rob Roe, Daryl Burke and Marty Robinson. The second period saw both clubs come up with three goals apiece. Scoring for Newcastle were: Brian Rodd, Anthony Burnoski and Marty Robinson, with assists going lo Dwayne Foster'(2), Marty Robinson Robinson and Tim Bailey. Newcastle 5 - Bowmanville 3 On Thursday, November 4th the Mike's Place Midgets played host to a return match with their arch rivals from Bowmanville, as in the game the night before thé lofcal lads stayed out of the penalty box (8 minutes) and were rewarded with their second win in two nights. The first period saw Newcastle's Brian Rodd open the scoring ' assisted by Daryl Burke and Marty • Robinson. The second period saw Bowmanville Bowmanville come up with two unanswered goals to go ahead 2-1. Scoring for Bowmanville were Jeremy Laird, and Sean Dalton. The third period saw Bowmanville's Dave Kikle put the visitors up 3-1. Then Bowman- Ville ran into penalty trouble and saw the Newcastle club come up with four unanswered goals to win the game 5-2.
