Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Doreen Lowery Press Secretary ticulture Christmas Show On Thursday, Thursday, Decèmber 1st to put you in the Christmas mood. There were 36 pairs of mittens and a quantity of food to be given to the Salvation Army. Lorna Atkins opened the show, welcoming all. Doreen Lowery played O'Canada. Loma gave the announcements and get well wishes to Hesper Dean and Dorothy Barnett who are in hospital. Carol Mostert read the minutes of last meeting and Adele McGill gave the Treasurers report. The Horticulture purchased Poinsettias for the three churches, along with bulbs for three churches, the Museum and Cenotaph. Two Norway Maples were purchased for the Museum at Kirby. The ceremony in the spring. Mary Forrest and Doreen Lowery planted the bulbs at Kirby and Lawrence Staples planted the bulbs at the Cenotaph. Draws were made with many new faces being the lucky winners, A few chosen Christmas Carols were sung by the good audience with Doreen Lowery at the piano. Lorna introduced Ken Williams who gave a slide presentation of flower gardens and flower displays and Lorna showed slides of her trip to Alaska. All very much enjoyed by all. Isabelle Challice read pointers on how to care for Poinsettias out of the Orono Horticulture year book of 1968. Isabelle announced the special prize winners of the Christmas Show and presented the prize money. Lynn qnd David Harrison Harrison were the judges for the Christmas Show and made a few comments on the good showing.
