Christmas greetings from Sam L Cureatz It is with the warmest of feelings that I extend holiday greetings to all my friends in the riding of Durham East and thank them for the confidence confidence that they have placed in me. As the year draws to a close, • many of us turn to that time honoured tradition of reflecting upon the past and pinning new hopes upon the future. The central theme throughout the season is the universal hope for "peace on earth." In doing this we rekindle old friendships, sending our message of hope and peace to friends; a ripple then spreads throughout our community. Ontarians give generously to ensure ensure a quality of life for others around them. Corporations and individuals individuals donate financial support to programs in the volunteer sector, the arts and recreation. Still others • give generously of their time. They -are the foundation of our communities-the scout leader, the executive on a volunteer board, the welcome wagon hostess, the lady's auxiliary, the service club member, the volunteer firefighter... If the central theme throughout this season's traditions is truly the universal hope for peace on earth then we as individuals must renew our determination to do what we can in our own way. We must realize that a global act starts in a local setting, "Peace on earth" is something that we all need to strive for in day to day life...the rewards of our determination will be the legacy that we leave for our children's children. On behalf of Kathryn, Draydore, Rion, Collin and myself, the very best this holiday season. Brown and Harrison stated they have a petition with 1000 names wanting to join Oshawa. Mayor Hubbard said she would respond to the letter and agreed with Counc. Hamre that people in Cotirtice should have accurate information. information. She said she was not buying this proposal. Counc. Larry Hannah, a Courtice Courtice area resident, said that council should discuss each individual question question outlined in the Brown letter sti that all members of council are well versed and informed in the aspects of the information contained in the letter.
