Guy said the fight has cost the private citizens dearly in frustrations frustrations and stress as well as thousands of dollars of cold hard cash. The speaker also noted that following the fight rejection of the first rezoning application, Mr. Hartwig was finally brought into provincial offences court on Septemerb 1988, a full two- years after the first complaint was submitted. submitted. He said, unfortunately the case was ill-conceived and poorly prepared and the Town Solicitor failed to presuade the Justice of the Peace, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Mr. Hartwig was operating a business from his residence. Guy said almost immediately after the court case Mr. Hartwig submitted his second and latest rezoning application thus again stalling enforcement proceedings. He said the rezoning application is contrary to both the Regional and Town of Newcastle Official plans as well as the Comprehensive Zoning By-law and as well contrary to all good planning. % "If we are to discard such planning planning at the whim of every individual who choses to ignore these policies then we need to reconsider the validity of the planning process itself", said Len Guy. Road Construction in Orono (Continued from page 1) construct a new bridge on Mill Road and to reconstruct Mill Road. Th€ road will be a two-lane road and included a sidewalk. Because such a role requires keen communication skills, some may be surprised to learn that his formal education ended part way through Grade 11. Later on, as a recruiter for the UAW, he wrote many leaflets for organizers to distribute at plant gates, and course, he developed as a speaker.
