Orono jumped ahead with a 3-0 lead before Millbrook scored their first. Orono for some reason let up and Millbrook took advantage of this and scored 3 goals making it a close game. Orono and Millbrook have had an on going rivalry for the last two years with Orono coming out on top. Orono will most likely meet Millbrook in the first round of the play-offs and we all hope Orono will continue to do well. On ■Sunday night January 8th Orono travelled to Omemee where the boys went up against a good fast skating team. With end to end rushes Orono scored their first two goals, but dropping off as the period went on and Omemee scored the next three goals. Second period was scoreless for both teams. Tri-County Novice on a winning streak Did everyone have a nice holiday? holiday? The Tri-County Novice has with 2 weeks off no practices or games. The rest seems to of helped the team who were in a scoring slump. This team has one of the strongest defenses going with a combined 2.68 goals against average. What that means is if we could score an average 3 goals a game we could win most of the games. Well guess what? In the three league games we've had in the last 3 weeks or so, we won 3-2; 3-1 and had a 2-2 tie. The whole team has worked very hard, played their positions and helped keep the opposition opposition from getting to many scoring scoring chances all year long. When shots were taken on our goal the goalies have been impressive. The coaches knew that modest winning . streak, has been great for the teams confidence. Best of all the scoring has come from several sources. The first game was here in Orono against Manvers on Saturday, December 31st. Steven Wilson was the shining star in this, scoring all 3 goals while playing a strong defensive defensive game on the point. He scored two of the goals from the blue line, one with a strong, wrist shot and the other goal was of the strange variety, variety, Steven just flipped the puck 10 to 12 feét high in the general direction direction of the net and somehow it came down behind the Manver's goalie and rolled into the net. I hope, the team has learned that you can't go to far wrong when shooting the puck on net in most situations. Four players received assists, Steven Gates, James Richter, Allin Robb and Joshua Bonnette. Mike Hutton again played well in net. The next game was played in Millbrook on Monday, January 2nd. Orono came out strong and hard in the first period and half taking taking the play to Millbrook time and time again. With this aggressive play we pick up the first 2 goals of the game. The first goal was scored by the triple J line: Joshua passed the puck to Jamie who passed to Jeremy and he scored. The second goal was also provided by good passing. Amy passed to Steven tie club hang on for dear life ap they walked into numerous stupid penalties (16 minutes) and only some sharp work by Roger Palmer between the pipes and an outstanding outstanding effort by Tim Bailey and Mark Millson on the blue line kept the Stouffville club at bay. Come on Guys - penalties will catch up to you come playoffs. Stay on the ice or else! Gates and he passed to Joshua and he finished the play with a really hard shot. Soon after this, goal the tempo changed in Millbrook's favor and Orono.didn't adjust fast enough allowing 2 quick goals. (Continued page 6) Devon Witheridge Do you know someone who deserves a medal?
