Shuffling feet in the halls, the slamming of locker doors, pencils being sharpened sharpened and various other school noises can be heard. In this report we'll humour you with some staff and student New Year's resolutions and also a listing of upcoming events. While on a survey of the teachers for their resolutions, we found that some teachers don't make resolutions resolutions at all. For example, Mrs. Sunstrum refuses to make resolutions resolutions because she continues to break them. Mr. Medd and Mr. Smith must have E.S.P. because they both said, "My resolution is not to make a resolution." Mr. Nobes hopes for more student participation in 1989. Mr. Farrington's resolution is to be as kind to all the staff members as he always has been. In my opinion, that means, look out, Mrs. Prole! Mr. Staples seemed to be just as nice. He resolved to be kinder to Mrs. Prole even though, she picks on him continuously. If you are wondering what Mrs. Prole has to say about all of this, she says that she resolves to walk more (mainly to keep one step ahead of Mr, Farrington). Farrington). Mr. Prole's resolution is tô become just as slim as his wife. Mme. Brosch hopes to be on time fo| all of her appointments in 1989 and Mme. Brunt resolves to be more organized. Lastly, but definitely not Jeast, is Ms. Wilson's resolution, which is to take The Pines' 1989 school play to Broadway. Broadway. And one last after thought from our great janitor, Mr. Phillips, his wish for '89 is for all us kids to wipe our feet before entering in hopes of keeping our school cleaner. Here are just some of the funny -, resolutions from the students: Jason Shephard's resolution is that he hopes to go down Ben's Bumps without wiping out. Good luck! Tricia Dubeau wants to stop turning turning into Wonder Woman so often in case someone discovers her secret identity. Amy Dewulf has two hopes, each as funny as the other. First, she'll try to stay awake during teachers' lectures and she'll think up better excuses when it comes to Fames, Tanya Clemens, Melissa Colville Colville and Ailan McKenzie. Members of the Orono Club have and are to be active this year in numerous competitions held in the district. Enrolment for the club has increased this year over last year. doing the dishes. Aaron Staples resolves to stop fighting with his beloved younger sister (Yeah, Yeah, Sure, Sure). Roxanne Dezan hopes that in 1989 all of the anger in the world will stop and people will be considerate towards one another. Terri Lynn Miller wants to get a B, just one lousy B in geography before the year is over, Mike McKelvie's very agreeable resolution resolution is for the class to have more trips all year round. Karen Vander- veen's wish is to have fewer tests. (In other words none at all! None! Hear us teachers? None!) Andrea' Hartmann hopes for more holidays * (Way to go Andrea!) and on a more serious note she wishes for peace on earth. Katie Climenhage, 7C's notorious redhead, hopes to be able to ride her favourite horse, Dusty. Jeff Pearce's resolution for 1989 is simply, to score only 50 goals! Only! Only! Tristina Hickson is going to really really try to stop breaking innocent young boys hearts., We've talked about some hilarious and some (very few) serious New Year's resolutions. But now it's down to business. First things first, on January 14th both boys and girls grade seven teams are to attend a volleyball tournament at Bowman ville High. Both the girls and boys have eight team members each. GO TEAM! While we're on the subject, House league volleyball has just begun. Each class has at least one team and some up to three, Mme. Brunt states that this sport will take us to the end of February. Both boys and girls basketball tryouts will be held soon and Mr. Prole hopes for a large turnout. turnout. On January 18th at Clarke High School a parent information night is being held for parents of grade eight students who will be attending attending grade nine in September. Tryouts for the Pinès play will bfegin on Wednesday, January 11th afterschool and we all hope that this year Ms. Wilson's resolution comes true. That about wraps it up for this . week's report and we hope you enjoyed enjoyed our staff and student resolutions. resolutions. Everyone from the Pines wishes you a successful 1989!
