Hospital Foundation outlines purpose This Corporation has been in existence existence for a dozen years and although it has achieved a reasonable level of visibility in our Community, it apparently still represents somewhat of a mystery to a number of people and therefore, it is our intention to demystify demystify the creation and purpose of this official body. The Foundation was created under Provincial Letters Patent dated September 16, A.D. 1976 and contains the following object: To receive and maintain a fund or funds and other property and to apply apply from time to time all or part thereof and the income therefrom for the furtherance of purposes in the field of health and/or related social and education purposes and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, to. give primary consideration consideration to the promotion and • benefit of the Memorial Hospital in the Town of Newcastle, in the Regional Municipality of Durham and Province of Ontario. The Last Rose was written as a Valentine's gift to everyone for 1989 by Patrick Douglas, of P.O. Box 191, Marmora, Ontario K0K 2M0. It was sent to this publication for one-time use without charge. All Patrick asks is that readers who especially enjoyed this story drop him a note. Patrick replies to every letter personally. To all our readers Patrick wishes a truly "Happy Valentine's remuneration and no director shall directly or indirectly receive any profit from his/her position as such provided that a director may be paid reasonable expenses incurred by him/her in the performance of his/her duties.' As we would expect all members of the community which is served by Memorial Hospital to be aware, the Directors of the Foundation were very involved and active in the recent campaign to raise funds for the expansion program. Due to the generous response from a great many individuals and organizations, organizations, the hospital board was enabled enabled to convert a cherished expansion plan from dream to reality for the common good of alltour citizens. Unfortunately it is an accepted fact of life that the needs of our hospital, as with all hospitals today, 1 will always exceed the funds available to satisfy contemporary expectations for modern up to date equipment so that the Foundation's responsibility for raising funds will always be with us. In this connection, connection, it is a grea^ pleasure for the directors to acknowledge that contributions contributions are still being received ' from interested supporters of Memorial Hospital. Such tangible endorsement from the public confirms confirms the importance of Memorial Hospital in this community. We sincerely trust that all citizens of this community appreciate that all donations to the Memorial Hospital Foundation are applied directly to the needs and im-. provements of "OUR" hospital.
