The game got off to a very slow start for Orono as our boys watched Bowmanville control the play in the first period. It must have been the short lay off or something because Orono just could not seem to get anything going. Thanks to some excellent excellent goaltending by Jonathan Black the first period ended with Bowmanville up by only one. Although things did not go well for Orono in the opening period they did manage to kill off à penalty by teammate Kyle Seacock early in the period. The second period began slow for Orono as well but towards the middle middle of the period the boys began-to get a little snap back into their skating and started to carry the puck into the Bowmanville end zone. Still it wasn't until less.than a minute to play in the period before Orono got on the scoreboard to even things at one. Scoring was Andrew Andrew Reid unassisted. As the third period progressed, it suddenly looked as though we were watching a new hockey game. Orono came to life and launched a real attack • on. their opponents. Everyone had at least one good shot on goal and if it wasn't for some fine goaltending by the Bowmanville Bowmanville netminder it would have been a much bigger score. Scoring were Alan Robb from Kyle Beacock, Andrew Andrew Reid from Kevin Copping and Andrew Reid from Jamie Party. Final score 4-1 Orono. The second period closed with Orono up by a 4-3 score. The third period was much tighter and both teams had their chances. Some fine goaltending at both ends of the ice kept the puck out of the goal. Finally Newcastle's Nicholas Stacey, who had put in an impressive 'personal performance, scored his third goal to once more even the score. Orono fought back trying to get the lead back but it was not to be. With the period drawing to a close Newcastle came down the ice on a breakaway only to be turned turned aside by Orono's Greg Shetler on a fabulous falling leg save. The game ended in a 4-4 tie.
