The Courtice school is to be a K to 8 grade school pliis a day care centre. Approval has also been given to the construction of an elementary school plus facilities for day care in , Cobourg. The approvals also included additions additions at the Vincent Massey Public school in Bowman ville as well as an addition at the Baltimore Public School. The Courtice school is the number one candidate by the Ministry with the addition in Bowman ville as the second priority. In speaking With Trustee Wm. Càrman he said that it is the first time that the Ministry has changed the order of priority which has been set by the board. Wilf Day of Port Hope states Port Hope is in dire need of a new elementary school and is surprised at the decision of the Ministry of Education in setting their own priorities. National mental Health Week To kick off National Mental Health Week, the Canadian Mental Health Association/Durham Branch will pay tribute to local schools at an awards evening May 1st, 7:30 p.m., at Harwood Secondary Secondary School in Ajax. The evening will honor both the winners and participants of Estate Board petitions the province to withhold an increase in the land transfer tax'as proposed: The land transfer'tax is a special levy imposed by the province on each home sold in Ontario. The Cobourg-Port Hope group estimate the tax at $1,100 on the average house. The province intends to increase the tax. . CMHA's "We're All Special" Contest. Contest.
