Cattle men vote NO to marketing board Some 22,460 cattle producers of 40,000 eligible voters in Ontario cast ballots in the recent vote on whether or not to bring in a marketing board for the industry. Of those voting 72 percent voted NO. Committee to review Children's aid tax hike Northumberland County has setup a committee to review a 23 percent rise in the Children's Aid Society of Northumberland 1989 budget. The 1989 budget has risen to $2.02 million from $1,708 million in 1988. The society has 60 to 65 children in its care each month and ' has referrals of upwards of 100 each month. The event involved pony riding, fencing, swimming, shooting and running. MRP Fawcett gets involved in merger MPP Joan Fawcett following accusations accusations that the Ministry of Municipal Affairs was pushing for amalgamation of Cobourg with Hamilton Township, asked such a question of John Eakins at a recent session of the legislature. Eakin stated that it was the two municipalities that had asked for a study on amalgamation and he felt sure that they would come together on a decision. Money in budget for 401 widening and GO Although details are sketchy there is money in the announced Ontario budget on Tuesday for the widening of 401 to twelve lanes east to Oshawa.
