Will need consultant to review A progress report was submitted by the Town's planning department concerning the proposed Browning- Ferris Industries Ltd. as to their proposed Medical Waste Incineration Incineration plant. BF1 proposes the plant to be set-up in the Courtice Industrial Industrial area on a 8.5 acre lot. On April 14, 1989, the Town received four volumes of a draft from BFI referring to the environmental environmental assessment summary, evaluations of alternatives, site assessment and pre-submission consultation, consultation, as they refer to the application application for the waste facility. The, Town was asked to review the documents. The Town expects to review the enviromental assessment assessment documents in conjunction with the official plan amendment and the rezoning application, The report from the planning staff , point out' that neither the Town nor the Region had received an application for official plan amendment or rezoning. Infilling to be allowed in Hampton hamlet Construction of a storm sewer down the Mill Hill at the south end of the Village over the past couple of weeks has been a hindrance to traffic and an irritant to adjacent property owners. According to Bill Lofgren, of tf e south-west corner of Somerville and Main Street the project has been temporarily stopped through a step work order by the safety inspector^. He said the Region was to have look at the project on Tuesday. Lofgren states that the contractors contractors are required to cut back into 'his property some twelve feet to (Continued to page 2) The General Furpqse committee of the Town of Newcastle has recommended that the Region incorporate incorporate the Hampton Secondary Plan in the Town of Newcastle Official Official Plan as a no-growth area with some in-filling being âllowed. A report to council members on Monday stated that due to the high water table, surface drainage and water contamination that a growth area could not be considered for Hampton'. The report also noted the deletion deletion of area for growth, from th'e plan as presented to a -public meeting earlier this year. The planning report also said that only after an investigation of the existing water and soil pollution and the identification of solutions for these problems could there be consideration of Hampton as a growth area. . Newton ville resident makes bid for water A revised Newtonville Hamlet plan leaves a Oven Road residence out of the plan and out of municipal water. Mrs. Bobbie Tims approached council on Monday asking that municipal wafer be piped to their property on Oven's Road just north of Highway 401. She stated that their well water is contaminated and has been since they purchased .the property in September of 1988. She said, through ignorance, they had not tested the water prior to making purchase.
