Scores were not kept in the games so we can't prove it on paper but any one who saw our boys and girls play could see that they were a talented group. Now let me introduce you to our all-star lineup. There is a large group of -new skaters once again in the Canskate program. Groups have been set up according to the badge level passed at the end of last season. New skaters were tested by club pro's at the first skating session and placed at the appropriate level. The Junior program is run with the assistance of Junior coaches and assistant Junior coaches. There are unpaid volunteer skaters who teach the badge level Canskate groups. This year, as in the past, the club will be fundraising to cover costs which are not covered by the registration fees? NDP leadership hopefuls to speak in Oshawa Candidates for the leadership of the New Democratic Party of Canada will address Durham Region and the area New Democrats at a public forum on Monday, October 16. The forum will take place in the Bobby Orr Lounge of the Oshawa Civic Auditorium beginning at 8 p.m. Following opening remarks from the candidates, there will be a question and answer session. The Oshawa forum is part of a cross-country tour by the six declared candidates seeking to replace Oshawa MP Ed Broadbent as leader of the federal party. Broadbent announced earlier this year that he would step down as leader. A convention to choose his successor will be held in Winnipeg, November 30 - December 3. Five MPs are running to replace Broadbent. They are Ian Waddell 1 of. British Columbia, Simon de Jong of Saskatchewan, Audrey McLaughlin of the Yukon, and' Windsor area MPs Steven Langdon and Howard McCurdy. A sixth candidate candidate is Roger Lagasse, a teacher from Sechelt, B.C. The Oshawa meeting is open to the public. The Civic Auditorium is located on Thornton Road, south of Highway 2.
