Spurts News Girls Basketball v The midget team started'thcir season September 28 showing great defense and potential. This young team is on their way to a very successful and fun year. Due to many injuries and a short bench, Clarke Raiders w*ic defeated 33-9. Good luck in the future girls!' Clarke Junior Girls defeated Saint Stevcifs in both play and points with a score of 19-17. As you can see the game was tense and a good win for the Raiders. Both offense and defense worked worked together to control most of the game and came out with a victory. Senior Boys Volleyball The boys were at York this past weekend against top competition competition from around the province. province. Starling on Friday night, Clarke played 4 fine teams managing to make it out of their pool on Saturday afternoon without too much trouble! Peer Counsellor of the Week Barb' Byers Barb enjoys being a peer counsellor this semester as it enables her to be around people and help them with,problems or questions they may have about high school. When Barb is successful successful with an interview it makes her feel good about what # she is doing. Barb comes from a large family, she has three sisters, Jane, Nancy and Catherine,and one brother, Robbie. Tennis, working out, playing baseball and swimming are just a fe,w of the things Barb enjoys. She like to write poetry and read Barb is 17 and in grade 12 at Clarke. Upon completing high school, Barb plans to pursue a career in journalism. This semester Barb is looking after our Guidance Department Bulletin Boards along with her interviews with the Grade Nine Students. J The Great Cow Drop : The Great Cow Drop was a huge success. The entire school body and quite a number of parents attended this first ever fund raiser. The three cows loaned from Mr. Neil Allin and affectionately known as Snap, Crackle and Pop cooperated by completing their tasks by 3:10, just in time for students to catch their buses home. Jennifer Boyle won the third prize of $200.00; Mrs. Ansetsleller won the ghetto blaster for second prize and first prize of a colour television wçnt to Mrs. Mary Stewart. Over four thousand dollars was raised which will assist the Senior Boys Volleyball team to go to Halifax, Nova Scotia this Thanksgiving weekend and will go towards the Senior Band's New Orleans Music Festival Trip next April.
